In 1998, I was invited to attend “Camp Jeep®” by a friend. We planned to meet in Buena Vista, Colorado at
the Crazy Horse campground. I was running late. By the time my ride dropped me off, my friend's
Wrangler ™ was no where in sight. Never having been to “Camp Jeep®” before, I wrote out a small sign of
my destination and put out my thumb. One station wagon, one full size dump truck and one super sweet ’98 Wrangler™ from Utah later; I was standing at the registration tent. My friend had been there already and left my name as his guest. I wandered in total amazement. I was alone amidst thousands of Jeeps ® and their owners. Good people everyone. I found my way back to the campsite later that day and regaled my friend of my adventure. My last words were,” When we get back, I’m buying a Jeep®.” Two weeks after our return to Saint Louis I found my ’95 Sahara with 86,000 miles. I bought it on the spot and now it’s up to 149,000 miles with no end in sight. I love my Jeep®. Of course I had the half doors and soft-top. I’ve only had two frustrations with my Jeep®, "the soft windows flapping in or out" and my lack of $300.00 to spend on a slider type window. What came from that frustration was the “Flexivent”. After all sorts of ties, anchors, rings, cords and configurations, I came to realize, not only had the problem been solved but the windows were now more versitile than what was available via "sliders" and at one tenth the price. A good friend told me to patent my invention. I did. My U.S. Patent was granted in 2002 and my foreign patents are pending. I’ve had a Flexivent on my Jeep® without repair for nearly three years straight. I can’t tell you how much better I enjoy my soft-top now. I’m sure you’ll see the advantages of the “Flexivent” go far beyond saving money. The versatility of the “Flexivent” outmatches anything a “slider” could ever attempt accomplish. I know most people hate to pay more and get less for it. So do I. Every time I see a slider unit it just blows my mind that if I would have had $300.00, I would have settled for one little opening, in the center of that bulky frame, instead of original Jeep® simplicity with a twist. No offense to the makers of the “slider” but I just don’t see spending that much money to make my soft windows do less instead of more.
Again, thanks for taking an interest in Flexivent. |
